Which format to start with
Capsules give you a fixed weight per unit and nothing to measure — the Amanita muscaria capsules are 400mg of milled cap each. Whole dried caps are for people who would rather see the material they are buying; the Grade A dried caps are hand-sorted and sold by weight. Powder is for extraction and formulation, where a capsule shell is only in the way — see the pantherina powder.
What the lab report tells you
Amanita is not a standardised drug, and the ratio of ibotenic acid to muscimol moves with the species, the season and how the cap was dried — a 2026 review in Molecules sets out how much it varies. That is why the unit of quality here is the batch, not the species name, and why every pack carries a lot number you can match to a certificate of analysis.
