Blue Lotus Capsules

Nymphaea caerulea, the blue water lily of the Nile, used historically as a ceremonial and medicinal plant. We sell a 10:1 extract of the flower and leaf, filled into vegan capsules — ten parts plant material reduced to one part extract, so the capsule holds more than its weight in dried flower.

Because blue lotus has a documented adulteration problem. A 2017 analysis of five commercial products found nuciferine in all of them but apomorphine in only two, at concentrations well below therapeutic levels. In a category where substitution is common, a lot number and a lab report are the only things separating a real extract from a plausible-looking one.

It varies by country and, in the US, by state. Some jurisdictions restrict it as a food or supplement ingredient while allowing it as a botanical specimen; others have no specific rule. It is sold here as a botanical for ornamental and educational use, buyers must be 21 or older, and we do not ship to Louisiana.
